back pain

Back pain is one of the most common injuries people experience. With so many potential causes, it is not hard to believe that almost everyone experiences back pain at least once in their lifetime. It can result from obvious traumas, like motor vehicle collisions, sports injuries, and work place accidents, but it can also be the result of more subtle irritants like sprains, strains, ruptured discs, compressed nerves, obesity, stress, poor posture, arthritis, or a bad mattress. Whether you pulled a muscle reaching for something on a high shelf, compressed a nerve in a violent car accident, or developed a slouch from working at a computer all day, chiropractors can often help eliminate your discomfort at the source.

Chiropractors use spinal adjustments to aide in the relief of pain and soreness in the back. Chiropractic care focuses on the musculoskeletal system and the proper alignment of the spine. They perform natural and safe adjustments on you to properly re-align your spinal column. This will ultimately take pressure off your discs and nerves and help your body to function optimally. You can supplement your chiropractic treatments by working on your posture and proper sleeping positions to help keep your back in alignment.

neck pain

Neck pain affects a significant number of individuals. Recent studies have found more than 10% of Americans suffer from neck pain at any given time. The reason is that the neck region contains many delicate, pain sensitive structures commonly exposed to abuse and abnormal stresses. Incomplete rehabilitation of past injuries, poor posture, prolonged sitting, and lack of periodic spinal alignments are some of the more common factors in the development of neck problems.

Fortunately, many individuals suffering from neck problems will find chiropractic care extremely beneficial. Unlike prescription drugs, most chiropractic procedures address the cause of the majority of neck problems, not simply the symptoms. Best of all, chiropractic care is safe, natural, and noninvasive... no side effects allowed!

Sinus pain

Chiropractic Boosts Immunity and Prevents Other Conditions - Scientific research reveals that regularly scheduled chiropractic care may boost the body's immune response. A powerful immune system is a key component of chiropractics all-natural approach. While many may associate chiropractic treatment with those that are suffering from neck or back pain, know that there are more benefits than that!

Chiropractic care aides in the overall health of patients and although adjustments of the spine help in relieving the pain of those suffering from back and neck discomfort, these adjustments also aide in our immune system. Our immune system is directly connected to our spine and when it is not aligned, it may throw your entire system off track. Thus, resulting in a non-responsive system.

Migraine & tension headaches

Nine out of 10 Americans suffer from headaches. Some are occasional. Some are persistent. Some are dull and nagging, while others cause debilitating pain and nausea. Taking a painkiller and hoping your headache goes away is one option. But there's a better one.

Research shows that spinal adjustment – the primary form of care provided by chiropractic doctors – is an effective way to treat tension headaches and headaches that begin in the neck. In a clinical trial conducted at Macquarie University, 72 percent of migraine sufferers experienced either "substantial" or "noticeable" improvement after a period of chiropractic treatment.

In fact, most headaches are related to muscle tension in the neck, which is an increasingly common condition among Americans who spend hours in the same position or posture (such as in front of a computer or television), leading to joint irritation and tension in the upper back and scalp that cause headaches.

sleep relief

Since chiropractic care is mostly viewed as a means for managing back pain, many people fail to understand its importance in improving your sleep. Chiropractors focus on your spine, correcting any misalignment that is present and boosting the spine’s overall health. What does this mean for sleep? It means that pain and tension that build in the spine may be released, and the more comfortable the body, the easier it is to relax and fall asleep.

Chiropractic care also enhances the body’s central nervous system. And the central nervous system is a key player in allowing efficient function of the body. The more efficient your body, the less wasted energy, and the easier it is for your body and mind to wind down and fall asleep.

We also recommend letting our office measure you for a Pillowise pillow to get the best possible rest and for your muscles to be at their most relaxed!

immune system Boost

Chiropractic care is the only way to detect and eliminate subluxation, and chiropractic adjustments have been shown to reduce the stress on the nervous system, thereby boosting the coordinated responses of the nervous and immune systems.

One research group found that when an adjustment was applied to a subluxated area, the white blood cell count collected rose significantly. Another study measured the effects of six months of regular chiropractic care on the immune system function of patients. At the end of six months of care, the patients who had received regular adjustments showed a 48 percent increase in the number of CD4+ T cells, whereas patients who had not been adjusted showed an 8 percent decrease in CD4+ T cells.

pregnancy

There are few things in life that put more stress on your spine than pregnancy. When a woman is pregnant, her body endures tremendous changes both externally and internally. The new distribution of body weight creates back pain as well as structural concerns caused by loosened ligaments. When the body is pulled forward, a great deal of stress is placed on the muscles of the lower back which leads to additional stress on the discs and joints of the spine. Your spine must adapt to posture and weight changes with each passing month and commonly the uncomfortable result is lower back pain.

Our goal in treating these problems is to fix the imbalance by strengthening both the upper and lower back. Chiropractors are specially trained to locate and correct the problems that are causing the back pain. As well, many women find that labor is shorter and more comfortable after having received chiropractic care during pregnancy. With a little preventative care, and proper nutrition, you can be strong and stable for the entire term of the pregnancy.

Infants & Children

At birth, a child's spine is a single curve, shaped like a C, and the newborn lacks the strength to hold up his or her head. At about six months, neck muscles develop and help the infant hold up his head. At about nine months, the lower back curves, the muscles in the lumbar area develop and the child learns to crawl and stand. The child now has the strength and balance to walk and run. Like an adult, the child now has three natural curves in the spine to support the body.

As they learn to walk and run, children fall, and can suffer strains and sprains as a result. Detecting these problems at a young age is critical for the proper development of your child’s spine. Many postural problems and back pains we experience as adults frequently are traced back to falls as children or a traumatic childbirth. Having your child’s spine checked by a chiropractor at a young age can be a key factor for proper development of the bones of the spine.

Ear infections, bed-wetting, hyperactivity, chronic colds and other health problems may be the result of nervous system interference or malfunction caused by spine-related problems. Appropriate chiropractic care can restore normal spinal and nervous system function. When the nervous system is functioning properly, chiropractors discover that many health problems resolve themselves.

sports injuries

Spinal injuries can restrict range of motion, reduce strength, slow reflexes, shorten endurance, and decrease performance. Chiropractic care for these types of injuries has become increasingly popular. Professional sports teams, Olympic trainers, and competitive athletes are employing chiropractic doctors - because they demand results.

Chiropractic care helps restore function to the spinal joints that are "locked up", fixated, and not moving properly. Besides helping to relieve pain chiropractic care can also help reduce inflammation. Muscles, tendons, and ligaments depend on proper joint movement and nerve supply for peak performance. Injuries to these tissues can reduce range of motion, affect delicate nerves, decrease blood supply, and take you out of the game. Normalizing spinal function helps speed up the healing of these soft tissues and reduce the deconditioning effect of being on the sidelines. Proper spinal function is essential for peak performance at work or play.

Much like a high performance race car, the human body must be in proper alignment to operate at it's peak performance. Regular chiropractic care keeps the body functioning at optimal capacity by maintaining proper spinal alignment which helps to eliminate the biomechanical and musculoskeletal factors that often lead to injury.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is usually thought of for relaxation, however massage therapy can be so much more when tied together with chiropractic techniques. Massage therapy provided in the chiropractic office goes for the more targeted soft tissue and muscle work to release tightness and allow the adjustment's realignment of bones and its resulting pain relief to last longer. We have an onsite Licensed Massage Therapist with 20 years of experience. Click here for more information -

Hydromassage therapy is also offered. Hydromassage feels like a hot tub on your back, neck and shoulders but you never get wet. You remain completely clothed as you lay on a water filled mattress and relax as a series of hydrojets massage away aches and pains. Hydromassage is private, affordable and no one touches you. It’s just you and the table in a quiet area. 15 minutes is all it takes. While hydromassages can never fully take the place of a Licensed Massage Therapist, it certainly can meet the needs of many of our patients.
