What exactly is a blog?

So my marketing director and website administrator informed me this morning that not only were we launching a new website for Alex City Chiropractic, we were also including a blog.

Wonderful! I exclaimed excitedly, ... but what's a blog....exactly?

So I resorted as many do to searching the world wide wonderweb, where I was rapidly educated on what exactly a "blog" is. Apparently "blog" is actually a word that has been "truncated"... or less formally, undergone a process known as "clipping."  In other words, when a  word is pared down or "clipped" of  all unnecessary weight and baggage to the lowest common denominator of its essence, it becomes a new concentrated form of its own self.

Examples of this include "lab" from laboratory, and "exam" from examination.  In my case "Doc" derived from doctor.  See how it works?

Based on my research, the term "blog" actually originated as "web log" which referred to a written record or message on the internet.

Good to know... but what's the application?

So I thought I would take a single paragraph and give the clipped version of chiroprac"tic".

Simply put, it is the detection-- by examination, and the correction-- by adjustment, of any misaligned segments of the spine that are causing spinal nerves to malfunction.

That's it.  No more, no less.

And maybe we could just truncate or clip the entire process to say the adjustment fixes what makes us "tic"?

Welcome to our website and our blog... and our office if we can be of any service to you!
